997 Commercial--My story as it is others, I'm sure...
Check out this touching commercial. I remember the first Porsche I ever saw, and never did I believe I would one day own one. He is more optimistic than I.

Awesome commercial. I get shivers when I watch it for some reason.
Pretty close to my story as well.
I grew up in a neighborhood across the street from a Porsche dealership (The Automaster in Shelburne, VT) and I've truely been afflicted since I was about 10 years old. I promised myself that I would have one by the time that I was thirty and I did so last year. Would like to upgrade to a 911 in the next year or so.

I saw that a long time ago...before I got my first Porsche!
Yeah, very touching. Infact, many kids know what a Porsche is,
Since I got my car, I've had 3 kids (two on bikes, one in school) giving me compliments,
like, "WOW! Cool car"...and "That's a Porsche!"

Great video...reminds me of when I saw my 1st 924 in like 1986 and cut it out and put it on my wall. Who would have believed then I'd be fortunate to own a 996 and now a 997. Awesome. Reminds me of my son and I when I pick him up from school in my P-car.

Growing up in the mid 70's in Southern Spain I remember seeing the late James Hunt (F1 driver in those days) driving around in a 911. Unfortunately, he was an arrogant sort and really was not a good advert for Porsche. But I loved the car... always hoped I would one day be able to own one.
I count myself VERY fortunate and blessed to now own one. I do have to still pinch myself to make sure that the car is really mine and tucked away in my garage.

I can't believe I finally own a 911. It was worth every penny. I just wish that I hadn't waited so long... although I'm sure that my overall level of appreciation for the car wouldn't be so high if I'd bought it earlier in life.
That ad deserves an award of some kind. It's certainly one of my favorites.
You guys should check out the mini-movie called "Don't Forget" on the Porsche.com site:
Entertainment > Movies > 911 > 911 Carrera
Touching, for those of us with sons... <g>

I'm 19. I don't remember the first time I really ever saw a Porsche, or anything like that, but I know I'll own one.
Really funny thing, is that I'm 19, so I walk a lot of places (ehhh, why drive for 5 minutes to the store rather than a nice 15 minute walk?) and everytime I'm out and about, and I see a Porsche, 914, 911, boxster, 928, whatever - driving by - I stop, pause my music, and listen.
Frankly the 993 video comes off more as... propaganda.
I know I know. It's just that the other video is so much simpler and kind of matter of fact.

What was it Dan?
I came close to buying a 924 recently, but it needed a bunch of work and had had the engine ripped out and replaced, and etc etc... It just wasn't me.

I throroughly enjoyed both videos, the 993 video especially.
I bought my first PCar at 19 as well - a 1979 SC Targa in brown with a orange/ tan interior (real pretty colors....ah, not so much). Sadly, I got rid of it back in 2002 b/c it needed too much work after almost 10 years. That was a mistake... You need to buy on Brett. All of these cars rock.

ahahaha
I saw a very nice condition 81' carrera coupe with average mileage for sale
beige on brown cloth interior.... blech
We'll see. I guess I have a solid reliable Volvo as a daily driver, I just need to wait and see what Porsche hits me right and doesn't need too much work
Oh, I did nearly buy an 86.5' maroon 928 but I thought about it for 2 days and when I called back it had just been sold - that was in REALLY nice shape too.
>>Edit: Thanks guys now I'm on autotrader.com looking for used local Porsches
