997 Commercial--My story as it is others, I'm sure...

I bought a '64 356 after returning from providing a target to the North Vietnamese Army. Then came the day I had to choose between an engine rebuild and the next semester's tuition at Michigan. Made the wrong choice and stayed in school. Still have the hood emblem from that wonderful car sitting here in my office desk drawer. Vowed that one day....
That day came in 05 with a new C2. Nice to have goals and nice to achieve them.

Brett -- my first Porsche was a 914, with the smaller VW engine. It was one year old. From that I learned about the handling capability of these cars. Many Porsche snobs would look down at the lowly 914 and say that it's not a 'real' Porsche, much like others did to the 924, 944, and others of that series over the years. But all give you a feel for the Porsche experience.
After only 2-1/2 years with that car I ordered a new 911S. From then on, it has been 911s for me ranging from the pain in the neck magnesium cased 77 car (probably the worst year for a 911) to a turboed SC and now this beast. You just have to make up your priorities in life.

Alright, new goal. Buying a Porsche in two years.
I was actually planning on having one by this december, but I started investing in a stock portfolio for the whole "house by the time I'm 28" plan...
I actually found a locally owned Porsche Boxster S (2000 my) for $25,000 - 74,xxx miles however - which wouldn't matter too much as I would be using it only as a fun car.

It seems like everyone remembers seeing their very first porsche. I was in Newburyport, walking to dinner when I was about 4, and saw a 72 911. Then when i was about 9 seeing 928 when the owner flipped up the headlights and drove quickly away.
Even though I sell them, I still get that same rush when I drive one, or see one. I can't help but touch them when I walk buy.
It's a true love affair.
