It all depends on where you live. In the Pacific Northwest the dealerships sell them faster than they can get them so they'll laugh at you and tell you to come back when you can afford a Porsche if you ask for a discount. If I had to do it over again, I'd buy a C4s from warm weather states and dealerships that do higher volume sales.

Here in SoCal I recently bought a new C2S Cab for 10% off sticker (plus sport wheels and clear lenses for n/c). Many dealers have huge inventorys of 997's and need to move them. The market has definitely changed in the past 6 months. 12%+ discounts on some cars with more options. The last time I checked with Beverly Hills Porsche they were sitting on 65+ new 997's.

$6 off the best they will do locally on Carrera and Carrera S' models. There are no breaks on Turbos or GT3's. They are taking close to the same off Caymans. I didn't ask about Boxsters, but there is more than one dealer on the internet selling 2006 Boxsters for $500 over invoice.

I have a good relationship with the P dealer here in Cleveland. He told me that P sales in NE Ohio is non existant. I keep going back and fourth about getting a new 997 or 996 TT. When hearing about all of these discounts, I am not sure what way I want to go.
In the past I heard that 3% was a good discount. It is very interesting that some people are seeing 10% or more.

I just purchased a well optioned C2S off the lot here in the SF bay area. I got lucky as it was the right color/configuration that I was looking for. Sticker was $96.5K. I paid $88K. Sure which I would have asked for some more freebies like others did. ;-)
