Default Navigation question

I've been searching the owner's manual, but I can't seem to find an answer to a seemingly simple question. Is there a way to turn the map display on without simultaneously turning on the stereo, other than muting the sound?

Not that I can find. Seems unreal that you can't operate the NAV independently doesn't it.

Agreed. I just returned from a road trip to DC, and there were times when I wanted to drive w/o music, yet couldn't do it if I wanted to have the nav on. Having said that, the car drives great -- drove 5 hours, and enjoyed every minute of it.

You need to mute the radio. Doesn't seem to make sense, but it's the only way that I've found that works. You could turn the volume all the way down, but then you can't hear Bitchin' Betty... <g>

If you have the mutifunction SW it's easy to mute, or go through the screen to mute it the 'old fashioned' way.
