Cool Carrera Sunrise

I just drove the Blue Zoomer from Saint Petersburg to Dallas and back. I took this shot just before sunrise on my way out of Florida.

I kept to the US and State highways as much as possible. At 11 months and nearly 9,000 miles the X51 C2S is driving stronger than ever. Unfortunately, passing through Mobile, AL on the way home, a 2"x4" flew off a lumber truck and took out my right outside mirror. So she's going into the shop tomorrow for a new mirror and her one year service.

After almost one year I have absolutely no complaints with this car. Nothing, turbo or no, can tempt me away from this machine.

I made it back from Dallas (1,160 miles) in one day. The car just seems to really like 3,400 RPM.

And, btw, if you ever get a chance to drive US 45 in eastern Mississippi, do it. This deserted four lane highway through the middle of nowhere is clearly a major piece of pork barrel spending. I like to call it "Pork for my Porsche."

Cheers,

Josh

What road was the picture taken on?

Sorry to hear about your mirror. It seems like in the last 5-10 years more and more problems on the road with flying debris from trucks. Seems like something could be done to tighten up the rules. I see stuff not tied down properly and sand a gravel trucks with out tarps with the wind blowing sand dust all over the road and State Troopers just drive by like nothing is wrong! WTF?

Thanks everybody. Photography is a hobby I take seriously. I just wish that tuft of grass wasn't in front of the car.

IIRC, that was SR 20 south of Tallahaesee...or was it US 98...

I could not agree more about the trucks. And get this, the responding officers (to take the report) said I should have passed the truck more quickly. I said, "look at this car and tell me I was passing too slowly." You can bet the same guys would be giving me a ticket for passing a truck at 75 in a 55. Sheesh.

I know it. I was actually trying to get the shot and get my *** out of the road.

In a way I don't mind the grass that much. Perhaps it just highlights the 911's organinc design. LOL. And some folks would also say I should PS out the phone wires. But hey, they were there weren't they? Maybe reality is out of vogue in photography these days.

I think I just need to get my *** out of bed at 4 in the morning and drive back up there and shoot it again. Sounds like a good excuse for a roadtrip to me.

ehhh don't do the same photo again, do something unique
No kidding, so many photographs are staged these days. I once put my pictures that were just quick point and shoots that turned out nice, on a photography forum... They just tore them apart, it was absolutely silly - these were all 'emo' kids a few years my junior and they staged EVERY photo and EVERY photo was in black and white - I guess I didn't fit their mold of everyone being unique and different - just like anyone else.
Personally, I prefer to point and click and see how it goes. I find it much more interesting that way. Having said that, cheating by jumping down some grass doesn't count

LOL, you are so right. Wish I'd noticed it at the time.

This is a real good photography forum. Everyone is real supportive and the atmosphere is generally positive. I'm also AeroSmith over there.

And if you feel like it, you can check out some more of my photographs here.

Nice photos. I agree with you, the X-51 gets better with a few thousand miles on the odometer. Glad that you did not get hurt by the flying debris....it could have been a lot worse.

Thanks, Holli. The piece of wood was actually headed right at the windshield and only at the last second did it seem to get deflected to the side by the car's slipstream. It was very scary...especially the loud bang of the wood hitting my beloved Porsche.

Aero I can sympthasize with you on that one - we had a piece of wood fly off a truck - several actually - we avoided the first one, the second one hit the roof of the car and actually got stuck in the rear crossbar of the roof rack...
Scary stuff. I was in the back and hearing it hit above my head and gouging into the roof wasn't cool!
