Default resetting ecu?

i was reading another thread about how a members car was having hesitation issues. the dealer reset the ecu by discnnecting the battery because they said it had "learned" the driving behavior. is this how it works? and will i be able to tell a differnce by doing the same thing to my car. i obviously took it easier on the car during break in. anyone have experience with this?

the transmission is adaptve meaning that it "learns " your driving style. if you drive easy it will shift lazy

If the ECU is indeed malfunctioning, this "cold boot" reset could correct a problem. As far as the car "learning" you're driving like a nanny and remaining in nanny mode, one full throttle application will clear that program and force the tiptronic (if you have one) into race mode, holding lower gears to higher revs before shifting.
On the track, I find the tip's race mode to be ultra aggressive, sometimes holding gears to redline even at part throttle!

one full throttle application iwll not do it, three kick downs are neccasassry for the agrssive map and still only temporary its still all based on adaptation. and the the proper way to reset the adapataion is with a piwis
