WINDOW TINTING: Metallic or non??
I've got to tint my car as it's just too friggin' hot here in Texas and my arms are getting cooked. For those of you with tint, do you suggest the metallic or non-metallic? Also, do the window guides cause scratches on the film? Thanks for weighing in...

Window guides are always leaving streaks on my film for days after washing the car. No scratches. I have non-metallic (solargard nano film, not huperoptic).

I remember that thread, but it didn't address the one versus the other, especially from an appearance perspective. The ceramic is just too light for me, I need darker so am considering the non-metal film but want to hear from the metal guys. Thanx

If you want darker than the Huper Optik then I think you have to go with metallic. That's what I did on the M3, at 18% metallic all around. Please excuse the non-Porsche pics (only for tint demonstration )

Forgiven on the car. Nice tint! What do you have on the Porsche? I'm not sure they'll allow me to go that dark here in Texas. What are your thoughts on the metallic in general?

I have Huper Optik ceramic tint. I did not want a dark looking
tint so I went with the Huper. No problem with the
window guides at all. Be sure your installer knows the the
windows go down a little when the doors are
open. My installer put something into the door
latches to fool the car into thinking the doors were shut
and then keeping the windows up.

Here's more for comparison of tints, side by side in light and in twilight.
Friend's Grey M3 - 35% Huper Optik
My Silver M3 - 18% metallic
See the difference?

May also want to check if metallic interferes with any radar dectector range.

There is no tint on the front window. Virtually all radar detects through the front window.
I have a V1 and from numerous experiences (cops pulled someone else over, detector went off like mad before and after I passed the cop) there is no discernible difference. And even if there is, it is from the rear/sides, not the front.
