CPO - HOW IMPORTANT IS IT?

With the manufacturer's warrenty, I wouldn't be all that wound up about CPO. And that sounds like a very nice price to me.

The Porsche dealer in the area of the car I am buying is willing to do the sell-through /CPO for just under 3k. This price includes $470.00 Certification Inspection, $1549.00 for Certified Warranty, $849.00 Dealer Profit/ Dealer Handling, for a total of $2868.00. Am I way overpaying for this? This seems worth it to me, as I will have the car I want for less than 73k, CPO'd. Thoughts?

I don't think the price is unreasonable; it's in-line with the price of extended warranties for BMW and Mercedes.
However, those cars are typically driven more. Unless you put a ton of miles on your car, you're looking at roughly $1,500 in repairs for each of the two years the warranty is extended (to 6 years, correct?) before it pays itself back. I don't think minor repairs will add up to that, but a major failure would. But then again, Porsche may do goodwill repairs just outside of the original warranty for a major failure.
Bottom line is that if it's the car you want, the price you want to pay, and it makes you sleep better at night, go for it.

After getting a Porsche dealer to agree do a sell-through CPO, the original non-Porsche dealer is backing out because he says that if he does a sell through, he has to surrender the title to the Porsche dealer immediately, and he cant float the title for a month to allow him to buy other cars. This didnt make any sense to me, but I guess I am back to possibly buying this car without CPO.

My GT3 had a CPO 'cause I can't afford a big repair( well, I could, but I REALLY don't want to). Still got a good deal on the car.
When I crashed at the track, the thing that got my car totaled was the CPO. Porsche would have been on the hook for 6/100,000 on an engine that had slammed into a wall at 70mph since they were repairing it for the Body shop. It would never have been 100% after the wreck. The total out was the best thing for me (except for insurance rates). It isn't for who ever gets my car since it can never be CPO'D!!
