C4 & C4S vs. Turbo AWD hardware/electronics...
Anyone know if the AWD hardware & electronics used in the new Turbo are used in the current C4S?
I hadn't read this anywhere that would confirm that Porsche uses the same drive train - only that the new Turbo has a re-designed AWD package as compared to the previous AWD hardware.

They are different, Jay. The 997TT uses an electronically controlled interaxle differential. In the 997 C4/C4S, the interaxle diff is mechanical, using a viscous fluid.
Therefore, rear wheel slip is required in the C4/C4S to move power to the front. In the 997TT, the torque split can be altered electronically before the wheels start to turn, based on ECU/TCU commands.
Other than that, I believe that the 997TT is identical to the C4x platform.

Thanks Don.
I just finished listening to the explanation on the Porsche website (doh!)
Sorry for the obvious lack of investigation mode there guys.
