Hpw long they last is mostly a function these days of your ozone exposure. Do you park the car daily in the sun or is it tucked away in a nice cool garage? The UV and ozone exposure does more damage than actually using the blades.

also when I got new wiper blades i went with some that were 1" bigger than the previous ones - the yJUST fit on my windshield, all the way around, which is great - the way I measured it was on a rainy day turned them on and measured how much space i had on the point closest to the frame.

What about those AERO WIPER blades found on the newer cars? Porsche uses that in the rear wiper on the 997 but continue to use the old and ugly ones in the front, it's ridiculous... I've heard some retrofit from BOSCH, does anyone tried that??

I have the NAPA "Expensivo" (I can't recall what they actually call it, but if you go looking that name should make it obvious). I put them on two years ago - nearly 50k miles. I suppose given the mileage and the fact that they're in their third winter I should be happy with the life, but it feels like they did not meet the manufacturer's stated expectations (more of a lifetime kinda thing). The issues are (1) the passenger side never did fully cover due to the curvature of the glass, and (2) the driver side got a small nick from dirt/salt/whatever and so always leaves one streak of course across my line of sight.
After this winter I will replace them - maybe sooner if I just can't stand it - possibly with jeff618's Trico Techs. If it wasn't for that driver's side streak I'd only replace the passenger side, but then I'm the kind of guy who would put different tires on the front and rear of the car (see THAT thread)...

I have been using OEM Porsche blades because I have always read that the replacement ones did not fit the curve of the windshield on the passenger side and thus did not wipe completely.
Anyone find an aftermarket replacement that gets every inch of coverage on that side?

Not to big up my shop again, but the silicone blades I sell seem to work really well. They've got a 2 year warranty too so if they ever stop performing as they should, you just go get a new pair (keep your receipt). They're about $25 each.
They don't use the traditional metal skeleton, more like a plastic bow that has much more curvature than any window and maintains good pressure. They also don't get clogged up as easily in inclement weather.
I'm sure you guys have a similar brand down there states side. For the canucks, hit up canadian tire.

I've been a trico neoform guy for a while now, but this time I tried 'trico tech beam blades' for the porsche 911/997. Apparently, they just came out in late 2009 and what's cool is they have a new, lower, slightly off-set attachment mounting that allows the wiper arms to sit slightly lower. The trico techs are also beefy as hell and look awesome with the lower mounts. They wipe clean and quietly without chatter. Came with removal and replacement instructions - easy install. Picked them up online and the techs actually cost less than the neoforms.

Found it - The replacement blade is called the Innovision and the 997 size is 14-220. Available at Amazon for about $16 per blade. (Beam blade is what they call the OEM version on the Trico site)
