Just noticed that the converible top on my 2005 997 was starting to show signs of wear where it folds when putting it down. The wear spots run accross the car and seem to be on top of the rear cross bar. Sorry if this explanation is not clear but it is the best description that I have.

 

Do you always store the car with the top closed? (or up, sorry I really don't know convertible top lingo.)

If you store it top down, then this might be the cause of your problem, and storing it in the up position might prevent further damage.

ditto on the wrinkle mark. storing car with top up is better each night.

i use a protective spray for the top every 6 mo. Porsche sells one and there are other brands too. Use a lint roller to clean out dust etc.
