Default Radio randomly changing stations

Has anyone ever had any problems with their radio randomly changing to another station?

I don't have nav, sat, phone or a cd changer - it is just the stock PCM with Sports Chrono.

I went by the dealership when it started and they said they were seeing it on a bunch of their cars too so they think it is an issue with the station, but i dont' see it on my other cars.

The worst part, is that it was randomly going to KISS 106 (I think) which is some girly station that isn't even one of my pre-programmed stations (god forbid). However, this evening it got worse and kept randomly switching to a RAP station - AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

The interesting thing is that all of the stations involved are owned by the same company (Intercom). Other stations owned by others work fine.

can this be related to TP. U can turn it off. Mine used to switch from CD player to 106. I think your problem is the same.

The dealership said that wasn't working, but I'll give it a try because it certainly won't hurt.

Thanks Wolfgang, you beat me to it.

I'm surprised Ron missed seeing it.

I had the exact same problem on my 996. I took it in and they said a slew of people had reported it in the same area (Atlanta) over a 2-3 week period. Evidently there was an issue with the actual broadcasts.

They ran a check to make sure, but found no issues and it went away shortly thereafter.

I had the same thing with my 997S. It is related to the traffic broadcasts. Turn off your automatic traffic set up and no more problem. Common problem in LA - my dealer knew what to do immediately.

Or maybe you car is just letting you know that it thinks your taste in music is pretty awful.
It's like, did you ever see that movie, MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE..
Here's what I would do.. Run out to your local virgin megastore and pick up a copy of any AC/DC album.
Anytime your radio starts acting up, play the AC/DC album just to remind your car that you know "the car is really in charge" and your just it's passenger. Then you can go back and listen to all the Yani you want.

Haven't had the problem with my 2006 997, but my 2005 Cayenne S switches on its own all the time (have NAV in both of them.) I was planning on calling it to the attention of the dealer when I went in for service next month, but following the advice here, I unchecked "Traffic" in the Audio screen..... sure hope that does the trick. Thanks for the info.

My 997S does it too - totally annoying.

Hopefully you've already taken care of it with the simple fix.

Sorry for the dupe post. Remember I didn't get my car until February, so your prior post wasn't as meaningful to me back then as it is now.

That, and of course the fact that I'm a lazy SOB who hates to use search.
