We were very impressed with the new Bridgestone when we tested them. Very quiet, gripped good in the dry and behaved very well in the wet. Bridgestone's UNI-T technology makes their tires almost unbeatable in the wet compared to other ones. Wet traction is as-good-as or better than any other sport tire on the market as a result. Dry traction and grip is just a bit under the PS2.

In searching, make sure you are looking for the RE050A Pole Position, as they are the newest and the best. They are replacing the S-03 Pole Position.

Gonna be hard to get a max performance tire with good treadwear, I think. The rating on the PS2s is 220, but that was measured on a Taurus running a measured speed on a DOT test loop, not on a 997 sliding around corners... <g>

Has anyone tried this one: BFGoodrich® g-Force T/A KDW 235/35R19. Costco has them for $206 installation included.

I only have 4,500 miles on my car. After two days of autocrossing, my two front tires Michellin PS2 are gone. PS2 are just so expensive.

1. Has anyone had any experience with the BF Gforce KDW?
2. Can I have the BF Gforce for the front tires and the Michellin PS2 in the rear? Will that affect the performance of the car to have different tires?

Keep in mind (if I remember correctly) - you cannot compare wear ratings across tire brands/manufacturers.

How are the RE050 PP on road noise compared to the PS2 or the conti's?

I remember somebody complaining about that. I need to change out my conti's pretty soon. 18k miles.

I have heard that they are very noisy. I am changing my fronts to the same PS2 since it is not a good idea to mismatch the pairs.

Are they "N" rated?

Seems the only Pirelli's with "N" rating for rears are the 295's no 305's for 19"

I have Pirelli Rosso's on my C2S now but want to change the rears to 305's.

Do the rears HAVE to be rated "N" or at least "XL"?

For what its worth... I had PS2s on my BMW 540i for two-three rear sets (they only lasted 10-12k) and I very seldom launched the car. They are GREAT tires, but very expensive. I believe that it is performance over price. However, on my 06 cab they came with the Bridgestones. I don't notice a difference, but I can hardly compare a rear drive/front engine V8 with gobs of torque vs a rear engine layout with a free-revving falt six.
Porsche wouldn't put a tire that will not handle on their cars. Period. Do the research on the racing circuit and one might find that Bridgestones are doing rather well.
As for me-I got "tired" of spending $$$$ every 10-12 months on something that did not improve performance, let alone aesthetics...Unless, I see otherwise with performance/wear, my next tires will be Bridgestone replacements. Plus, with the rears lasting 1/2 as long as the fronts, it may be 15-20k before I can change anyway. This will be a long enough test.

FWIW Deanski, I've had people tell me that the N rating is meaningless. When I asked why they claimed it was something that Porsche cooked up with the tires companies and that it has no scientific merit (unlike the speed rating; i.e., Z, Y, etc...). They pointed out how places like Tire Rack, etc... don't even allow you to search by the N rating because it is meaningless.
