The Porsche rate was very high when I looked into it. Ended up paying cash. My wife just bought an E Mercedes (hey, I had to keep her out of my car!) and got 2.9% financing.

As someone said, you can call the 800 number to open an account. If you want to open one online (I did), go here to read about how it works, or here for the account info (did I mention your $5 will earn 1.25%?), or just skip to here and start answering questions. Its THAT SIMPLE!

Having monitored these boards for a few weeks, in advance of my purchase of a C4S cab, gravedgr's identification of penfed is, frankly, one of the best pieces of information I've gotten. If you are not directly affiliated with the military or a member institution, you can simply make a one-time $25 donation to the National Military Family Association (NMFA) to become eligible to join the credit union. It's a good cause and is tax-deductible, to boot! After that, a $5 deposit will get you going. All this can be done, online. I signed up and applied for a loan, this weekend; it was quickly approved with very responsive service and, of course, the best rates I've seen, by far! Thank you, gravedgr, for bringing this to my attention.

You are very welcome! There are just too many posts here that are argumentative, opinionated, or just plain wrong - so many useful nuggets often get overlooked. I think a good idea would be to compile them into a single, stickied thread that could be updated as the information changed. That way new buyers could have one spot to go to for their most common questions.

OK, let me promote my local Credit Union too..

http://www.calstate9.com

I got 4.49% APR, I think it's up to 4.99% now. They also have 5.75% CDs ... I'm puzzled at how they do that.

Do they finance leases? If Not, who's the best source for low money factors and high residuals?

Thanks

500 - you can check out LeaseCompare.com for soem lease rates. I am leasing my '04 996 and my wife's '05 CLK through them. I am not affiliated with them in any way, just a satisfies customer.

your mileage may vary..... without expressed written cosent, is prohibited..... no implied guarantee..... yada yada!

Sorry, 500...missed this one. I don't think they do leases, but you could certainly call and ask.
