The factors that list considered were depreciation, fuel, materials. Although the Porsche had better than 3rd level depreciation (less depre.) it fell down in costs to maintain.

Cost to maintain or own? So far, I've bought a 997 model, key chain, umbrella, t-shirt, watch, stickers, flag, poster. It sure is expensive to own a Porsche! I'm also in the process of building a new house with a four car garage.

Thankfully, 997's are proving to be highly reliable and less prone to RMS failure and other glitches than their 996 predecessors. I'm glad to hear depreciation was part of the eqauation because that bitter pill has already been swallowed. So, excluding depreciation, I wonder how the 997 (not any 911) would fare?
BTW, my full coverage (50/100/300) insurance with $500/1000 comp/collision deductible is $882 a year. That's only $216 a year more than my 2004 Infiniti G35 6-speed Coupe (for sale to the right buyer...). So, insurance is nowhere near as expensive as I thought it would be, especially out here on the left coast.
My guess is Ferrari, Lambo and other low-volume exotics weren't included in the list due to general lack of statistics and relevance.

You guys need to read the article. The 911's cost of ownership was driven up by models like the GT2, GT3, and Turbo who were substantially more expensive to run than the Carrera models.
