Well, his SL55 on trade was worth more than the 997 was worth new. Tax put him over by $100.00

That's not what was posted and "over" doesn't make sense to me. Surely a vehicle sale in a State with sales tax attracts tax on the full amount (reported) for the sale. So I assume he means the cost of the Cab including sales tax was about $100 more than the trade-in value of the SL55 -- perhaps it was a very new, low mile SL or he got a helluva deal on the Cab. I'm still interested to hear how it worked.
