Default first ticket in the 997s

out for a spirited top down drive this morning...did my normal circuit - over 100 on the way home over the gandy bridge...i was a about a mile from home when apparently a cop in an unmarked pickup paces me...im accelerating, slowing, accelerating - passing cars and enjoying the day (not being dangerous - not cutting people off - just spirited driving)...he pulls me over - ends up giving me a warning for reckless driving, changing lanes without signaling..but gives me a ticket for 72 in a 55 = $182..guess ill take the class so as not get get 4 points...he says he didnt use radar cause he saw me V1..he says he got it all on film - i was gonna ask to see the tape - thought it would be fun to see my driving - but i thought he wouldnt appreciate that..plus i know i was probably going faster and had just finished going over 100 - so i guess i deserve it..it was bound to happen - i was just thinking yesterday how it had been a long time since my last ticket..damn - 4hr class and im out a couple hundo..

Cop didn't use radar? Get a lawyer and tell judge you were just keeping up with traffic which was going 60-65 and he singled you out.

Over 100? Don't feel guilty. I do triple digits all the time (on isolated stretches of roadway of course).

Think of it this way - $182 is less than the least expensive option Porsche offers! I had my '04 C4S up to 75 this AM - damn these cars are fun! Enjoy the rest of your July 4th!

If you had a stealth install like a K40 he probably would would have tried using his radar (much easier than pacing) and you would have been forwarned.

Just a thought.

I think you got off pretty well. I'm surprised he didn't pulse you with his radar as he would have a reading by the time your radar went off. Unmarked pick-up--good one.

Oh man that blows! Well, as long as it doesn't effect your insurance rate, I'll take the class over points any day!

I have a K-40 and even so it seems he was out to get you due to lack of using turn signals while changing lanes. So what if you pass someone, that's what other lanes are for anyway!

I hope all will go well!

on film? I think he's bluffing. Was he FHP or a local cop?

You can probably take the class online for $40 or $50, get a printout certificate, mail it in to the local jurisdiction and be done with it.

In 2003 I was written up for 85 in a 60 on hwy 70 between Hardee and DeSoto county. That speed is almost impossible; I was in a P38 Rover, 85mph means it was indicating 95, and there's NO way I would ever drive such a rickety machine that fast. Heck, anything over an indicated 70 felt dangerous. I took an internet class, and got rid of the ticket. The key to the internet class is to scroll to the bottom of the page, answer the questions, and let the timer run down for that section. 4 hours means four hours, but you don't have to sit in front of the computer for all four hours.

You violated a Board rule. Where is the rear-view mirror web cam pix of the cop car behind you?

This picture isn't from my 911, but rather the M3 that replaced it - regardless, I figured it was appropriate.

I got pulled over today on an open stretch of road somewhere in KT or TN, we both topped the hill, not a car in sight. I pounced the brakes from 100 or so to what he said was 89. I took down the detector when I saw him turn around. He looked inside the car, asked were I was going, looked around the car and get this... he says, this is your lucky day, I popped my tires cutting through the median to turn around. He let me go... the weird thing is my V1 didn't move a bit. I just checked and there are no upgrades for my V1. So I'm thinking he guessed on the speed. Have any of you gotten a ticket and your V1 not go off at all?

That's why it was your lucky day, Mike. He likely did not have a radar fix on you. <g>
