I just got my first speeding ticket in my 997!!!! $175 for doing 50 in a 30. S**T.
What makes it worse is that I was singled out from a line of traffic ...so it must be the car. The cop said it must be hard to control the speed on such a fast car. I said I was doing the same speed as everyone else, so why pull me over....no reply.
The weird thing was that he said I could plead not-guilty and go to court and he would help me get off with a lower speed. What kind of bizarre logic is that? It kinda make me think he didn't have solid evidence.
What should I do? Suck it up and pay the fine, then move on....Or contest it ? (I was speeding, along with every other car on the road).
Over the speed limit is one thing and travel along with the traffic flow is another thing. If you are goint to contest it, you must say you were only going at 30mph. If you can say that, you should just pay for the the ticket. In California, you can request to go to traffic school to keep the ticket out of your record. That can save you big money on your insurance. Also, in San Francisco court, they will reduce the fine as long as you appear to court to request for traffice. I believe they will reduce to something like $60-70 regardless of the original fine. Call and check withy your court. Good Luck.
Go thru the PITA and get thee to court. Be nice and apologetic and you'll at least get a few points knocked off.
You don't want those points. Just gives insurance company reason to punni$h you more.
I'm very sorry to hear you got nailed when going with the flow. Definitely sucks that they single us out in those situations. They should be required to nail the car in front of the line.

...I can't believe he said that, either. Sounds like he was using POP mode radar and just picked out the best looking car in the bunch...
...I'll grab the 997... he won't contest the ticket, he's rich... and I'll get to look at the car up close, too... <siren on>
He's just doing the job we pay him to do. From your description, it sounds like he needed a ticket, he dosn't like to give them out but he gets ragged on by his boss when he doesn't produce and if you go to court he will help you out. Cops write down a person's demeanor, remorse, comments, etc. so that they can remember you from everyone else they stop.
There are quotas no matter how much PD's deny it. How do you rate performance? one category is the number of tickets written each month; measured against some minimum criteria.
How do I know? in another life - a cop in maryland for 17 years
Like everyone says, get yourself a V1, 2nd best investment you'll make

The cop was being nice to you. Go to court have him lower the speed, and thank him.
Get yourself a radar detector and always been uber nice to the cops, no advantage to be otherwise.
Florida has a few options as long as you have not had another speeding ticket
in the last 12 months. You can elect driving school no points this way and you can
take the course on line or you can call ticket busters or equivlent (lawyers that go
to court for you and beat the ticket on technicalites like if the arresting officer doesn't
show up or the ticket was not filled out correctly )they have a pretty good win rate.
I don't know about the " I will help you get off with a lower speed" thing.
Why didn't he just give you a ticket for a lower speed to begin with? I agree with
Stephenkng above all avoid the points to save big money on insurance. These cars
do get us tickets and we definatley get less of them then we deserve. I got 2 tickets last
year with in a 10 day period both for 20mph over the posted speed(thats the magic # bth)
No points driving school for 1 and ticket beaters for the other which they beat for me.
I get a Lawyer everytime I get a ticket. It might cost a couple bills but, will save you money on your insurance. A lawyer will know the best way to handle the ticket.
My last ticket was a little over three years ago. I was doing at least 75 in a 55. The police officer gave me a ticket for 64 in a 55. I thanked him!!!
This may be a dumb question, but I'm originally from the UK and not had a US speeding ticket before...if I get a ticket in NY, can they put points on my CT licence ??
