The 997 side windows use a very special treated glass. I wonder if that is causing the problem?
I would imagine that any special coating would be on the inside of the glass or between the layers in laminated safety glass.
I have a Porsche internal document that describes the glass treatement in some detail. If I recall correctly, it's only the side glass. I'm about to get on a plane so I'll post it when I get home from this business trip later tonight.
Well then I find it rather amusing that you feel compelled to respond to questions which are clearly directed at those who are obsessed with the particular subject in question. . . . That's gotta be an embarrassment.
I'm a stoner...or I use stoners. Also just use paper towels that I get at Costco...Work fine for me, but Ben probably would laugh!
I always suspected that of you. Got some papers? ... Oh yeah, papers. I actually, uhm, get my industrial strength paper towels elsewhere. But no, I wouldn't laugh at buying at Costco. I'm all for saving a buck or two, ahem. ... Actually Costco has pretty good MF towels. Bought a pack of 18 of those yellow kind for about 50 cents a towel. They're really plush. And they're the right blend 70/30, Polyester/Polyamide.

Amusing?..., that's wonderful. I'm glad you're enjoying my posts.
Oh Oh! Whose posts is this meant to put a damper on? Many times I have wished for a word from our moderator, but why here and at this poster? Lost me here Marc. Did you read this interchange from the beginning? I thought the bad karma started in the other corner myself.
So the problem with most of the products listed here, is the fact that they are liquids, and are hence prone to leaving smears on the glass, whether you use paper or MF.
There is a pro window polish, that goes on as a cream, almost like a wax, and then sets up to be polished off as a dry residue.
No streaks what so ever - and a great clean shine.
Thanks Chris for suggesting that. Never heard of such a product before, but I've heard of Auto Glym. Really like their "tyre dressing."
How well does it work on the inside glass with the "residue" that must be wiped off? Does it get all over the dash, for example, or are you able to capture the residue with the towel you use to wipe it off?
Seems to me the whole thing is a pre-ban carryover.
You mean on his part? I agree.

I'm sorry, but what is it that you see that we're not seeing?

MF Towel catches it nicely - easy and clean to use inside and out

I am not sure who the "we" refers to. Perhaps we do not see ourselves very clearly at times, or how we come across on a forum where communication consists wholly of words, devoid of other interpersonal cues. At any rate, enough of this. Personally, I use Griots Glass cleaner, paper towel it off, and accept a little lint as part of life.
