I see nothing wrong with a little "luxury" in the pcar interior. In fact I miss the luxury aspects of my SL but would not trade it for the handling dynamics and general "feel" of the pcar. That's why I think that a tasteful bicolor leather interior with a few wood trim pieces (not overdone) is just right for this car so as to differentiate it from the interior of a VW. Leather, wood etc do not detract from this being a genuine sports car.

And, incidentally, although everyone may indeed have an opinion not everyone has an ******* (in the traditional sense).

Evaluate how much your going to drive the car, remember you'll never see the money you dump on leather come back. HOWEVER - it's your car and if you are going to drive it lots, go for it. I also would consider getting some wood options too...

Let's see, that would be "opinions are like ********, mucous fistulas, colostomies (and some enterostomies) everybody has one."

Or how about this "every ******* has an opinion."

Maybe we should go back to your original suggestion

Be careful of too much leather. My 997 CS has full leather and no extra goodies - seems just about right. I also have a 993 Turbo S in which EVERYTHING is leather - AC vents, power window buttons, stalks, seat belt thingies, headliner, rear view mirror and on and on. By the time the car is ten years old, regardless of mileage, the leather requires serious care and feeding - a saggy leather headliner is not a thing of beauty. Check out the problems with the standard leather dashes on Turbos from the late 70's. Before I went crazy with quantity of leather, I'd probably order leather to sample and come up with some incredibly lush color.

Full leather is the only way to go on the Porsche interior as it finish the car out so well. It's not that the basic interior is bad, it just looks poor when compared to the upgraded. The quality has certainly taken a leap forward this generation.

After about two weeks with the natural brown leather I have to say it is incredible and is much tougher than I thought it would be. You orderers out there should seriously consider the natural leathers (grey or brown).

Now I'm a serious leather lover, so I have no doubt that it is excellent as I'm pleasantly surprised how good the full leather option is. I can only imagine how great the natural leather is. However, the natural brown is a little too much like creamy peanut butter for my tasks, so I'd be curious if anyone has any good pics of the natural grey (which looks like light black in the swatch).

I'm jealous as hell of the awesome adventure your on in your new 997 cab Dan!

Laughing my *** off!

Reminds me of the one about the proctologist who was about to write a prescription when he reached in his pocket and pulled out a rectal thermometer. With a shocked look on his face he exclaims, "OH NO! Some *******'s got my pen!"

Dan: Can you explain - natural leather in gray, not natural in blue? I don't understand. Thanks for any help. BTW (again), very nice choices on your order!

The Natural leather is available in two colors: Tan and Grey. The Natural Tan is darker than the Sand Beige and is similar to peanut butter in color. The Natural Grey is darker than Stone Grey and could be described as a charcoal grey. You can check out the Porsche Configurator to get a rough idea of the various shade differences.

If I recall correctly, Ray G. has Natural Grey leather in his 997S Coupe (the latest one with the X51 option). I also recall that he posted some close-up interior pics a few months back, specifically of the leather rear center console and the leather door finishers.

Cool, thanks for mentioning about Ray having it. I've actually been in Ray's car but didn't realize he had natural grey (I thought it was black). I'm going to make arrangements to go see it again so I can compare it to my car.

Ron, you are correct. Tim just didn't "recall correctly".
It was another not-so-frequent poster who has the natural grey - a super beautiful color that I wish I had known about when I ordered my car.
