probably not needed if you have manual. With Tip, that trim is needed to hold the top piece (black) which is needed to hold another small triangle piece inside where the gear pole goes through
I did order the yellow dial but the dealer "forgot" to put on the order.
That's awful. Sorry to hear that. Don't be a nice guy! You can never trust anyone to get these things right. Always expect and even demand to see the finalization of any order!
You can still get them. They are fairly easy to change out. Make them do it for free. You'll probably have to pay for the dials.
While you guys are giving opinions about interior enhancements, what do you think I can do with my full leather sand beige interior. I feel a bit like it is too much beige everywhere.
My car is basalt black and I wonder if I can give little contrast to the interior by adding more aluminum or adding black pieces (but where?)

Tell me about it, I also ordered the Sport Chrono package and it actually listed on the window sticker but it was not installed! As for the dial, they promised they would order one from the factory and install it for me and I'd been bugging them ever since I got the car last August. Well, guess what, last month, my sales finally said Porsche wouldn't sell the dial by itself and it has to be done during production.
They gave me the Nav for free because of the Chrono mistake and PROMISED they can order the dial and install it afterward. Well, I guess once they got my money they would careless. I think the aftermarket color dials are avaiable for 996.
