Default Just Installed AWE mufflers!

Hi All,

I installed a set of AWE-Tuning mufflers on my 997S last night. These muffler sound awesome and there is no resonance. For the cost and quality, you cannot beat these mufflers! Comparing these mufflers to other alternatives: I drove a car with Tubi's and even though they have a slightly different pitch, there was this horrific resonance at 2500 rpm. I have only heard the PSE from the exterior and it sounds great, but the cost from factory or even as an afterthought is substantially more money. I have no affiliation to AWE, just a happy customer.

Do they come with some nice looking polished tips? And the price, of course?

Juxtaposed, I just had an AWE exhuast system [Headers, Cats, Mufflers, Cold Air Intake (Evo) and GAIC Chip] uninstalled from my 997 C4S Cab yesterday. I love how the system sounds at idle and I love how it sounds above 3,500 RPMs but I can not stand how it sounds in between. On my way home from the dealer, I was so embarrassed that I had to turn around and have the dealer remove everything. It sounds similar to a 60's era Volkswagen Beetle. Others have confirmed this comparison from what they hear on their AWE systems. I only wish I had known before taking the leap.

A few words of advice, find someone who has the same system installed and make sure you are happy with how it sounds/performs before purchasing. That way you don't make the same and expensive, mistake that I did.

On that note, does anyone want a good deal on an AWE system? Only used for 12 miles! It was professionally installed/uninstalled by my local Porsche dealer (Tischer Porsche - The best dealer in the Washington, DC area!)

Just for the record... my better half will not allow me to purchase the PSE or anything that will increase the sound of the P-car (SUGAR!!!!).

For the PSE you can shop around (SunCoast or Brandywine) about $1,800.00 for part Labor is about $590.00 wired with the combined switch module. No extra Ponies and more weight, but the sound is amazing!

IMO, I rather have the great sound without the HP and if the weight of the muffler is an issue, I’ll just go on a diet. hahaha

mquattrone-

I'm sorry that our system was not for you. We try to do our best with making everyone happy.

The comment above is the one that most concerns me. You say others feel the same way as you.

Is this online? Word of mouth?

I have yet to hear clients or potential clients complain about the sound. Can you provide me with examples?

Mike,

I concur with mquattrone. I do like the mufflers, but at low rpm's there is this farting sound from the mufflers. If you short shift and keep the rpm's around 2k and accelerate it does not sound good at all.

Also, you don't hear it without load. So if I was to tap the accelerator from idle to 4K at standstill it sounds great. I am wondering whether the pipe diamter being larger than stock and having a completely free flow design causes this problem.
