Same question for me, but with a twist:

Thinking about taking the P-car to Lake Tahoe this summer for a family wedding. No safe place to park that is not under a bunch of pine trees and all that sap. Go cheap on the cover and get rid of it later?

I am concerned that no matter how careful I am with the cover, the sap is going to get on something and I might as well not try to keep the cover too long.

Thanks.

I went with one sold by Griott's Garage. It was about $200-something. Slicker than I am used to as it is moisture-proof. Light, too, compared to the true fabric ones that I'm used to. It is more appropriate for a cabriolet as the cotton blends shed a lot of lint onto those tops,--for coupe people it might not seem that obvious. I also went with the lightest color possible for the best thermal protection.

Get a covercraft...they make all kinds depending on the protection you need. I use the Dustop as I keep mine in a garage.

Go to carcoversdirect.com For outside use I find Noah products the best but they have a comparison chart for all fabrics, indoor and out. A great site.

custom fitted cover with mirror cut outs is best as it'll keep stay on the car when windy. i've both noah and evolution 4 covers. I prefer evolution 4 as it's 4 ply and tend to keep moisture out better than noah. plus more protection against dings.

if you want something inexpensive, 996 silverguard (OEM) are on eBay for $75-80 all the time. if you use the cover just for a few days, you can get a $30-50 generic cover from Costco too.

Since I have my C2S in the garage, I got the Porsche cover fit for the Aerocup kit. Looks nice with that big crest and the words looking at you when you open the garage door.

For outside, Evolution fabrics are quite good, protect from dings a bit, but are also heavy.

planotax: I'd do the same, a decent cover, but one I could toss after the time at the area. Who wants to take a sap-laden cover back with them? Good idea, just get one that protects enough then toss it.

if you're just using it for a few days to a week, why not just get a cheap $30 tarp?
*puts flame suit on*
hell, even an old bedsheet (or two) properly weighted would work!

Depends on the use - Weathershield is a good choice for outside mostly and some inside use.

It's best to get what suits your particular needs. Unfortunately, I couldn't find something that offered good 'ding' protection and didn't leave lint all over the cab top,--check the Griott's Garage site for their guide to picking a cover. It will give you a matrix with factors that you can choose amongst to get the right cover for your particular needs.

No Brett,--I don't think the folks here after blowing $100k on a car will settle for an old KKK discard.

Your concerns are justified. Even if you don't get sap on your car at Tahoe, you will get tons of yellow pollen during the summer. Many car covers can be washed or cleaned, but I am not sure that all of the sap will come out.

Best to go the disposable route IMHO.

ps. Don't drink too many Wet Woodies!

lawjdc --

wet woodies on Wednesdays !! Tried to win the trip to hawaii year before last -- no go, but the effort was fun. grew up water skiing every summer on that part of the Lake. What do you think -- an early weekday morning for a low traffic P-car fun drive around the Lake?
