997 body stiffness: Cab v. hardtop...
Am I going to notice a difference? Got a boxter loaner yesterday, and I could tell. When one side hit a pothole, I could feel the body flex. Is the 997 cab stiffer?

I took a 997 cab (awaiting mine) out on one of the most severe roads tests in California recently and there was no flex. Recall that this was their objective in designing the 997 as a cabriolet FIRST,--before the coupe. The cabriolet has different shock stiffness from the coupes front and rear as Porsche felt that cabriolet owners would be seeking something slighter less rigid. Do a search here and you should find more on this subject on Rennlist.

You can certainly feel the difference between 997 coupe and cab in a number of areas: the steering feels slightly less sharp and precise, you can feel a difference because the suspension's a little softer, and you can see it in the rear view mirror when going over poor surfaces and railroad tracks.
None of it is bad, but you would have to be lacking in the area of your senses if you missed it.
As to whether the Boxster is stiffer, my sense is that it's stiffer than the 997 Cab. Would it make me switch? Not likely!

Driven them side by side pretty hard. There is more flex in the cab, but you probably won't notice it. Only when I pushed the cars hard in corners did I feel a difference. This was at a track where I was allowed to push the car. Driving around town in my 997S Cab, I couldn't tell a difference. You're either a cab guy or not.
