you can get a conversion kit for around 4k from another supplier, Van zweeden Porsche parts (no affiliation). That means one could have the 997 look for around 35k (30 for a '99 996, 4k for the kit, 1 k paint work). Makes the 996 lighter as well. Yes, it is not original but I'm sure people will do it. Ever since the "S" bumper was introduced in 1970, 911E and T owners have been doing mods like this. Other examples are RS ducktails, RS flares, RUF bumpers etc etc. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Question for debate: Off course the 997 has many other improvements over the 996 but are those worth 35k?
