Default Rear tire treadwear poll

My rear Continental Sportcontact2's are about dead at 8000 miles. I'm wondering what kind of rear tire life people are getting. Just round to the nearest 5000 miles.

9,760 miles on Michelin PS2 and still very good tread, only one 3-day track event at VIR on them.

Those who are claiming to get 20,000 miles out of there rear tires either have some pretty hard rubber or plastic on their wheels or are not running an alignment within Porsche' specs. OR, they never drive in the rain so they do not know that they are running on the inside belts of their rear tires.

Based on the previous owner's log, 10,000 miles on Bridgestone S 02's. About 3K left on them max.

I replaced a rear tire (Conti Contact 2) at 10,000 miles with 50% tread left. Neither dealer nor tire store suggested replacing the other tire. Still plenty of tread. And I drive the car hard. You can choose to believe it or not.

I have ps2 and am getting them replaced at 20220 today. The car was driven all year long and through 2 winters. I drive a lot of miles and quickly but do not powerslide or drop the clutch.

I'm not going to get 10,000 out of my rear Conti's I drive hard & fast, but don't spin my tires or break the back end loose much. Nearly all my miles are on the highway. Don't know what the previous owner did, but he only put 3600 miles on it. Trying to decide if I replace the rear Conti's in a little while, or replace all 4 with ps2's. The front tires have plenty of tread left.

This is nothing but a shameless post to keep the survey on the first page of the 997 forum.

At around 16 kmiles I started to feel some issues during heavy rain. Otherwise still very good tires (Michelin).

Note: hardly push it from zero at stoplights. Care more about acceleration between 20 and 120 MPH.

During the next few weeks I have to decide for new tires. I'm leaning to the same again.
