WOW,
I saw this topic yesterday, checked out the car as best I can, and was about to pull the trigger and buy today. I thought I would check back and see if anyone posted on this topic -- WOW.
I am new to Porsche, decided to move out of trouble prone Mercedes. Sounds like this may not be a good way to start on a Porsche!
I live in VA, so it is tough to see the car without going there. So far they have not done a bait and switch, and seem to be reasonable.
I did the Carfax, and it does show 3 owners. Started as a lease car in Texas. Hard to tell what really happened. Dealer claims the last 2 owners are only car lot transfers, and will show the paperwork.
Also heard one can launder a title, maybe a flood damaged car, in Texas.
Now I am really concerned.
Anyway, I am here to stay, and have enjoyed lurking discussions on this list!

I've also heard that about laundering a title in Texas. I heard you can do that in Florida, too, but I'm not sure. For that reason, I've never considered a used car from either Texas or Florida and, interestingly, you'll see that the majority of used Porsches on eBay are usually from those two fine states. Interesting.

I also looked at this car on the web, but didn't check out this forum till after I bought a new 997S from a dealer I know in St. Paul. I always feel more comfortable dealing with the devil I know.
At least it was a bargaining chip in the negotiating process.
I'm glad to have been suspicious of their prices.
In future I will search or check out this forum before making a major decision.

I think the price is OK, it matches what Edmunds predicts for this car. But it is the three owners and the intangibles. They have tried to convince me it is a one owner car, and that two of the transactions were dealers. But it doesn't make sense. The car was registered as a lease, and came back from the first owner after 2200 miles. How often does that happen. Next owner keeps car for another 7000 miles. Then it ends up in Downers Grove as the third owner. Sure smells like a lemon.
They are also trying to convince me that if anything is misrepresented, I do not have to accept the car.
I think this is too risky without actually viewing the car in person.

I have dealt with them twice, with OK results, but once they concealed damage. See if you can get the name of the originating dealer and call them for the story on the car. They are definitely as slippery as they come, and they get a lot of their cars from auction so you have to do your homework. They've had that car a long time.

squareloop - Do a "search" on Luxury Motors on the 996 Forum, then get a tall glass of your favorite beverage and start reading. If you aren't convinced to stay away from LM by the time you have finished your drink, then have another drink and keep reading....

Like I said earlier in this thread, that place is a filth pit. Imagine spotting body/paint work, being lied to about it, and then being called an a**hole by some loser twenty-something greaseball salesman wearing a Kmart pin stripe suit, just because I caught him in his lie, and called him on it. I was really upset by the experience that day, and will never forget it. I'm glad to be able to share it with you guys, because I hate to see scammer car dealers continually take advantage of people. It's actually a wonder this outfit has stayed in business as long as they have! Trust me -- bad news!

I am done with the guys from Downers Grove. I appreciate the history available here, and it clearly indictaes not to deal with those guys.
They answer the phone "Western Motors," so the identity switch is on!
