Default Cab windows question

When you have the top down and the wind blocker up, do you have both front and rear windows up, or just the front ones?

I don't think it's possible to have the rear windows up when the top is down...now I just want to go home and try that.

Anyway, I usually have the windows up on the highway (I do have the whistle problem on the passenger side mirror) and have everything down on local street (if it isn't too cold)

LeChef - only the front ones can be up with the top down, irrespective of whether the windblocker is installed or not.

My windblocker is almost never installed and my windows are almost always down when the top is down. Even then, wind buffetting is negligible.

You can and I usually do have all 4 windows up with the top down - atleast until it warms up a bit more. Just tap the back end of the rocker switch under the driver's side window switches and you can operate the rear windows independantly - I think you need to have the front ones up all the way up though in order to do this.

Not sure the rear windows being up do much to further reduce the wind with or without the wind stop. Although it does seem to lower road noise a bit more than with them down.

That's incorrect. You can have both front and rear up with the top down (at least I can). To answer the question, I usually only have the front windows up. I did not notice any difference whenever I also had the rear ones up.

Having the rear windows up does not make a difference to buffeting but I think the car looks nicer with them all up

I have to agree with that. I think the car looks much better with the rear window up. I usually have all 4 up when I am on the highway and down the rest of the time.

The rear windows can only go up if you have an aftermarket mod like SmarTop. This will allow for control of the rear windows. The standard (stock) programming will not allow the rear window to be up when the top is down!

I think it is standard on the new models. Has someone told you otherwise?

Lots of bad info here.

996's won't allow the rear windows up without a mod.
997's WILL allow the rear windows up via the rocker switch (which is only on the cabs) under the window switches on the drivers door which controls whether you are working the front or rear windows.

I ride with mine up if I have the kids in the car, down if I don't. I've never used the windscreen because I usually have a car seat in the back.

Ronmart is absoulutely correct. The rear windows can be up with the top down via clicking the rocker switch beneath the window buttons.

Also, I have tried all scenarios (front/back windows up, only front, windstop on/off) and I do agree that with the windstop up, the rear windows do not add much wind/noise protection, but the windstop down/out, it does help primarily with noise.

I have not actually looked at the car with the windows up/down to see if it looks better or not.
