I will link lighting - I already have that part on the current system (theme lighting wirelessly out of the Pronto). HVAC maybe one day but we have digital thermostats that we never touch and the house is always comfortable so that is not high on the list. Security - further down the road - we have a great security system but its hardwired into its own controllers via a commercial company, etc. Not worth the time or money to mess with that in near term.

Digital video feeds like in that post? That's another story.

It's true. Can't find the original article where I read this but here's a preview: http://ccnmag.com/story.php?id=96

Just think....having critical home components (liking notifying 911 in case of fire) entrusted to a Windows CE based system.

Now that inspires confidence.

Yes, that's stupid

We have a fully integrated security system, fire and police, that was installed professionally.

I installed 4 color security cameras and I can monitor the house via the internet. I built the server which runs on Windows but it's never crashed, and of course I do periodic maintenance.

Uh oh, I detect a not so veiled swipe from the Apple camp.

OK. After a bit of research I wrote a driver script for my system. Now, when you come to visit my house, I will hand you a digital badge and when you walk into my garage, the exterior and interior colors of my actual 997 will change to reflect your taste. It's the least I can do for all the help I received in this Forum.
