997s x51 ? ? ?

I looked at X51 but could not wait for factory installed version as I got too impatient. This week I'm installing ECU upgrade, intake box/cone filter, headers, sport cats and keeping the sport exhaust muffler that is connected to sport exhaust switch. I'll let you know how it sounds, and power increase should be approx 25-40 HP.

Is this a joke?
Legally obliged jargon?

Love the X-51. The added torque, the throaty growl with the sport exhaust on. After owning a car with it I can't imagine going back. My last car was a 03 C4S. You can really feel the difference in pulling power with the 306 ft lbs of torque all the way through the power band. You'll love it.

I love mine too (Club Coupe 2 of 50)--I have about 130 miles left in the 2000 mile break in period. I've inched up on 5500 RPM's a few times, and haven't red lined yet. But X51 definitely pulls harder than the base 3.8. In fact, it launches faster than my 01 996 Turbo did--due to the turbo lag from idle to about 2100 RPM's. The X51 sounds glorious under acceleration and is, overall, more lively than the base 3.8 too.
Excellence did a very balanced write up in their February 2006 edition, but the online reprints of the article have disappeared. They said head to head the X51 pulls away gradually but the entire package was so "sweet" that it really is what the 3.8 should be.
Only "bad" thing about X51 is the price--and I got the Club Coupe pricing which was a nice built in discount, so I'm not complaining.

Exhaust and ECU Upgrade
OK I just took delivery of 997 S cab with following upgrades: Fabspeed headers and sport cats, Evoms intake box/filter, ECU flash upgrade. Cost about $5k. Sound is AWESOME, more torquey feel, noticeble power increase (dyno estimate is 25-40 HP depending on throttle), and I kept the OEM sport exhaust mufflers with bypass that allows me to switch sound on/off with the sport switch. Local Porsche specialty shop in LA installed in 8 hrs. Avoided hassle and cost of $20-25k rebuild from dealer. My 997 S is now a "MONSTER"!!!!
