Lots of Chicago people here
OK, I've been on this site for three whole days and seems many 997'ers are from my town.
Very cool
What's your favorite drive in the P-car around town?

Sorry to double post, but I'd guess North on Sheridan Road (thru the Ravines of course) and South into the city on LSD are up there, but what else?

I live in the city, so my favorite ride is getting on any highway I can. 294N or S are my favorite runs since they're so wide. I often get on there on the weekends and let it rip. LSD too dangerous for speed.

Too much construction and the associate 45mph speed limit on 294 these days. I seem to be in crg1717 area and enjoy some of the roads next to the large forest preserve areas near Palos Hills, Palos Park, Willow Springs. Very nice especially in the fall. There are a few twisty roads and some straights where you can open it up a little.
BTW, Big Run is a terrific golf course.

Bingo on the ravine on Sheridan Rd. There's basically only one good spot, in Winnetka, just north of Lloyd Park. Hit that baby during off-hours (i.e. early morning Sunday), and run back and forth a few times for good measure. Probably the only other enjoyable spots are onramps and offramps at cloverleafs. So much traffic in Chicago anymore, really robs us of much fun.

And icruze, I assume you are familiar with the Maple Lake Run and Flavin Rd.? I live in Orland.
Haven't tried up in Barrington Hills but it sounds great.
You know the great thing about a Porsche is that it fun to drive at 55 in 3-4th if the setting is good. That's why tooling into Downtown on LSD from the N or S is a blast. The car is just so taut, supremely smooth yet sharp...it's sublime in the true definition of the word.
More please, I need new miles!!!

Three Wheelin'
There are some great roads around the Little Calumet river just north of Orland Park. Sunday morning when there's little traffic they are great. they're not super fast, but the curves are testing.
I prefer to head north in Wisconsin on the back roads, but you still have to watch for cops as a 77 in a 55 ticket proved a couple of years ago...
A meet up would be great - a couple of years ago I wanted to organize the "911 Air and Water Show". Basically a meet up of air cooled and water cooled 911's but didn't have the time to get it organized. So if anyone's a good organizer take the name and make it happen.

Hmmmmmmmm. I know the area well, I just don't know where the Little Calumet gets anywhere close to Orland.
There is an interconnection of water in the Forest Preserves thru small lakes and of course the I&M canal and the South Branch of the Chicago River there and you are correct, you can roar thru there in the early dawn on weekends. You pi$$ off the fishermen, but everyone has to have some fun.
The Maple Lake Run is right in that area and is my "standard" test track for sporting vehicles. Although you do need a detector since the Willow Springs Mounties sometimes pick on us sportsmen.
I'm considering joining the racers Country Club near Joliet this year. Anyone here a member?
