Default Need help biting the bullet

Going to the dealer tommorrow to make an offer on a 06' c2s cab (Ap build i believe) with the following options:

Basalt Black
Black Leather Sport seats (Non Adaptive)
Heated seats
Bose
Porsche mats
Sport Chrono
Sport Exhaust
Sport Shifter
Red Seat belts
Nav
Windstop

Total comes to 101875.
Dealer offered me 2550 off (2.5%) or 99325.

I'm thinking more like 95K MAX 96K. I have to wait 3 months so I miss a lot of the season (in Midwest). Am I realistic? If I pay 95k they still make about 7400 on me. Not bad for the sure thing.

Also is the multifunction steering wheel worth it? Did I miss any importnat options?

I LOVE THIS FORUM. Addicted for life now.

Welcome to the forum!
While I'm no expert on current pricing, I agree with your guess of 95-96K.
I think you've got the key options there. I'm guessing this was someone's ride and they backed out after their deposit - I say this only because the red belts are usually a customer request. I have the yellow ones and I love the feeling of being human caution tape every time I strap em on.
GOOD LUCK and don't take No,...until your eyes start pooling up and you decide to just buy the thing anyways !!!!

Thank for the reply. Actually I'm ordering the car on a build ( not someone elses ride). Hopefully that doesn't make a difference in price, but I just can't see how they wouldn't take a 8% profit for the car.

My suspicion is that in the midwest the 'deal' you can have should be better than on the coasts. I think asking for 5% off(at least) is the minimal you should accept and push for 6%. If you can, the best option is to have 'other' offers for similar cars in hand (check ebay, cars direct.com, etc, call other dealers etc). It is always better to go to them and ask to match a price (it may boil down to 1000-1500 difference, but you should not back down as there is no reason to) unless you can get the car immediately and you need the car immediately).

Obviously if a car is sitting on the dealer's lot they're going to be more aggressive. If you build a car to spec you will get less of a discount.

You didn't post your location, that also matters.

Sounds like a beautiful car!

sounds like a great car with all of the best options. To get a great deal you
must be willing to walk out the door without the car, and that is VERY
difficult.

Thank you. It's definitely going to be hard to walk, especially when 2000 grand is chump change on a 100k car. I've dealt with a main guy at the dealership and he's really friendly and genuine I feel. Sort of an oxymoron in the car business. Maybe it will be my lucky day. And if not, hmm... and if not....

I would think 4% is doable, but again the dealer doesn't have the incentive to move the car like they would if it was taking up space on the floor.

Since you are building the car, try many dealers see who bites.

Build your car with your desired options and shot an email to 10 different dealerships around your area. You can find the emails of the dealerships by first going to the porsche website and going to the locator... surf the different dealership and get the email from the sells manager and send them ALL the email and ask them to reply with thier best offers (5% discount). Buy from the best offer or get thier offer in writing and go to your nearest dealer and ask them to match it! Best of luck!!

Will try the email technique. However, the dealerships in Chicago are quite spread out and I liked the one I dealt with because of its proximity. Does it matter for service in the future, and also if I don't buy the car there, but get it serviced there, I will never get a loaner. Correct?

Welcome to the club! Yes, I'd say at least $4000 off is something other dealers will definitely be willing to provide. I had $4000 off as the dealer's first offer on a build-to-order $86,000 car. You should get more.

I also researched the multifunction steering wheel. There are a few good discussions on it and some really seem to like it. I eventually decided against it because the buttons are where I sometimes hold the wheel.

Good luck!

ame, sent you a private message.

The loaner policy depends on the dealer. I have seen dealers in sleepier markets like OH and MI who aggressively solicit customers for their service depts. by advertising that they will provide Cayenne loaners whether you bought the car there or not. Metro Chicago dealers may differ.

If you buy a car from the dealer they will be better with loaner cars (provided by the sales team so the service guys can't help), other than that the service department will want your business either way.

If you like the dealer than a couple of hundred dollars in their favor shouldn't make a difference for you. If they go $3500 off, I would go for it.
