Cool, I want to see a pic when you get them as I'll probably do that down the road when the ones I have now wear out. I paid $115 for them, so I'm not going to just toss them out now.

so if I get this straight, you hang the short shifter up outside for several days to lose the smell of a cheap shampoo carpet? Will that thing rust? Isn't that untreated steel in there?

I sent this off to a few places:

Hi,
I have a 2005 Porsche 911 Carrera S (997-body).

I'm looking for the pricing on a set of 4 floor mats AND a trunk mat.

My car is a Coupe w/Bose.

I'm looking for them in Ultimat, NOT heavyweight.

I'd like the front mats to be two lines:
Red "PORSCHE"
Silver "Carrera" followed by a Red "S"

I'd like the rear mats to be one line:
Silver "Carrera" followed by a Red "S"

I'd like the trunk mat to be two lines:
Red "PORSCHE"
Silver "Carrera" followed by a Red "S"

All the mats will need to be black with no off-color piping.

I'm in Los Angeles.

Thanks
Marwane.

Default New Car Smell

If you're talking about that nice leather smell then yes there is one product that smells as close to new leather.

It's Zaino Z-10 (leather in a bottle) conditioner. The closest to new leather period!

As for the mats, get rid of them from the car, they used a deodorizing shampoo. I agree, wash/rinse these again. and leave out to air dry. It may be awhile before they are fully removed of the deodorizer.

If you have to clean the leather, do what most high-end detailers do (but don't tell) is Woolite 6 to 1 with distilled water. No need to rinse, just wipe dry. Use standard Woolite, not a "color" Woolite. You can use a boar hair brush to loosen the heavy stuff and keep wiping with white cotton towels until no dirt shows, then obviously they are clean and ready for treatment. Hit them with Z-10, wipe it into the leather and again, a white cotton towel until soft.

You'll be very happy with the new leather smell. Not overpowering. Just that new car type of smell.

Enjoy the new LLOYDS mats! I'm ordering a set with the "S" in yellow to match my yellow seatbelts and PCCB's.

Default Lloyds Mats

Who did you order Lloyds mats from. Interested in the black with the Carrera 4S logo. Part number? Thanks.

Ben, I squeegeed my entire car and hung it out to dry (upside down of course).
I just have 2 questions:
1.) how do I get it right-side-up again?
and
2.) do you think I went too far with your excellent advice?

Don
p.s. My P-car no longer smells new but I'm afraid I now do.

Don, it sounds like it must be happy hour over there.

Ben, astute as always!
Skipped dinner, enjoying a 1st bourbon, Grateful Dead on the stereo.
I think one bourbon must equal several Heinies so bottoms up over there.
