Default Retractable Spoiler

Is there an easy way to check if the spoiler is extending above 75 mph (short of having someone follow you)? I know it works manually, but I never know if it has extended at speed.

Sometimes you can see your reflection on a darker car/van/suv.

It would be nice to have the indicator on the button light up when it is extended. Until there's a hack/fix, I'll just have to keep watching for those reflections too.

If it doesn't raise, a light comes on, 'spoiler failure'.

I was not aware that you guys could not see the tail in the "up" position. I can see it on my 996. I understand that the 997 seats sit lower than the 996 seats. Is the lower edge of the rear window higher on a 997 than on the 996? Or maybe the wing does not raise as high on the 997? It would be interesting to know the reason(s) why it can't be seen in the 997. Any other thoughts?

When I'm driving mine over 130 kph, it's usually because I'm on my way to 230 kph, so I'm watching in front, not behind!

I did not realize that there was a spoiler failure light if it does not raise. Looking for reflections on cars to the side at 75 mph could result in more than just a spoiler failure.

I believe the 997 wing does not raise as high as the 996. When it is up, it is almost flat (parallel to the ground).

pipe the webcam to the PCM and go out and buy a MOST harness to hook it in so you can monitor it while driving. Extra switch on the PCM is gonna be what breaks you though...

With my past 993, I could often watch it raise by it's shadow, when I was driving north/south late in the afternoon (or morning). But typically, whenever I wanted to see this someone would pull up next to me and block my view!

that's the reason why Porsche gives you a sunroof, you can stick your cell phone out and take a pic.

Better yet, buy this webcam:

http://www.smarthome.com/971354.html

Then hook it up into a wireless modem and post the IP address so we can all stare at our computers in between posts to see if your spoiler is raised.
