seats in my cab ar almost worthless...i had my younger brother's girlfriend back there on a short trip - she had to sit sideways and was very uncomfortable - shes tiny!

they are essentially worthless...maybe they are ok for 5yr olds

Well if you have young children (below the age of 12), the back seats are not worthless. The expressions of joy they have when they are driven around is priceless. Heck they are even willing to sit with legs criss cross for being able to sit in the car. I do not yet feel comfortable allowing them to sit in the front even with the airbag deactivated. The other day I saw a mom and three kids in a 911 coupe and they all seemed 'happy'.

I recently drove my S and a cayman S on mountain roads - we kept switching back and forth. Conclusion: as said above , they are entirely different cars. The cayman was easier to drive, feels much lighter than the 180 pound difference, but the 997 feels more substantial, and the rear does seem to dig in more coming out of corners hard.I had some problems with the shifting on the cayman too, but I might just not been used to it (otherwise, you can drive the darn thing fast from the get go) I was a bit curious if I would regret having spent the extra money on the 997 ( the cayman wasn't even officially announced when I bought it) but I am very confident that the cayman does not replace the 997. Awesome car though

Carrera: Fun to drive, more HP, more room, more prestige.

Cayman: "more fun to drive."

I'll take the Carrera!

I remember a quote from a race driver or team owner that went something like this:

"Racing as an addiction makes heroin seem like nothing more than a mild craving for salt."

Does anyone know the source of the quote?

LOL, i convince my wife that cayman is temporary. mia (daugher) sits up front in her booster seat. when she's big enough to sit without booster, we are getting a 997 of somesort so she can sit in the back and i can take the whole family out.

mia cries in every car we have except porsches. put her in any porsche, she stops crying and reaches for the gear selector... this is gonna be one hell of an expensive daughter. in fact, she's surfing rennlist with me right now (only 16 mo)!

Off to drive them both. I'll give everyone a heads up after the drive. Anyone have the current residuals on the cayman?

I almost bought a Patek 5053 (Officer's watch). But after seeing it in person I was reluctant to spend 20 K on it.

Incidentally no one, except a connoisseur, would be impressed by this watch or have any idea as to its value. Therein lies part of its attraction to me.

According to the April issue of Motor Trend they seem to be a tossup on the road as well. The 911 did, however, retain its crown against the Cayman, Z06 and Vantage.
