Windshiels nicks
As my 997 is my daily driver am I the only one truly bothered by the number of chips that I am getting on my windshiel.I have had the car for 3 months and I seem to have an unusual amount already.Does anyone else have this problem or do they not bother you?

You've discovered an interesting issue with European glass. It's actually softer than state-side glass. There is little you can do about it up to the point you need an entire windshield replacement. Then go to Safelite and let them put in their version. Not sure with the integral antenna wires whether this is even possible anymore,--hopefully someone will be manufacturing an aftermarket windshield for the 997 here.

You have have the bulleyes repaired to avoid further cracking. Auto supply stores sell the windshield repair kits for $10 and it's easy to do. Most insurance company will also repair glass without deductible too. Many offer mobile service.

I posted a similar concern in the 996 forum some months ago - seems a common issue for daily drivers. Windshields do not break or even spider more frequently than others, but the top layer of laminate seems to get very pockmarked.

I also use my 997 as a daily driver and I have roughly 3800 miles in it. Despite my best efforts to stay clear from anything that might spray debris onto my car, my windshield has quite a few very small nicks in it. It bothered me significantly until I realized that this seems to be a common problem. I guess I'll just have to live with them...

I recently had a bullseye repaired by a mobile company covered by insurance.
Most these places advertise that the repair will make the chip virtually invisible,
has anyone here had a good response, it seems that in my case it is the same if not worse...
They claim that it will not get worse so I guess that is what we should expect with these repairs...

I've had 2 cracked windshields in the past both in previous Benz that I've owned. State Farm replaced without deductible. I could not live with a repair of a significant chip that was in my line of sight. Now if it were on the passenger's side I might feel differently.

Repair kit - use a 4 pak of small, disposable super-glue tubes in the ashtry/stowage area. When a hit occurs, stop as soon as practical, dry/clean the area and use one of the small tubes (using about 1/40th of the contents or so). You just want deep and total coverage of the impact area.
Let it dry, reapply, dry/cure. Then, use a straight-edge razor to scrape the excess off the windshield. Stops most of them from getting worse.
Hope this helps,
Grant

I have decided to wear my windshield nicks as a badge of honor. F-it I've decided, I drive therefore I'm nicked. Though I do go out of my way to stay clear of the worse offenders.
When they get bad enough I'll have Porsche change the glass and start all over again.
