Default I stopped by my Porsche dealer today and ordered some new toys…

Ok now this all started a few weeks ago when I brought my car in for the clear bra, I got to looking at the Tequipment catalog. When I stopped in a few week ago I bought colored crest center caps and clear signal covers, and then that go me thinking I could just add all the things I didn’t get on the car originally. Ok so this is what I ordered so far 1. Sport shifter 2. Aluminum door sills with illuminated Carrera C4S 3. Leather door finishers 4 Fuel Tank Cap with aluminum look finish 5. Double thick steering wheel. And 6. Five millimeter wheel spacers. Well that’s it for now, but I did price out the leather center console and it just seemed like stupid money for what it is…well not that I got a bargain on all my other mods. I also just got the clear bra done too, now I can’t wait until the weather is better so I can actually take it for a long long drive.

I would also like some comments on anyone with the Sport shifter, I was a little on the fence with this one, does everyone that has it like it? Maybe I should start a new thread with this question but I’ll try it here for now.

JP - You will LOVE the SSk (short shifter kit). It is a good DIY mod. You can do a search on "shifter" or "SSK" here on the 997 Forum. You can also search on the 996 Forum, where you will find a ga-zillion posts on the SSK.

Having a sport shifter is a must. I don't know why Porsche doesn't just offer it standard. I guess they need the extra money

If power adj. seats are standard in a Honda and optional in a Porsche..... I think you already know the answer

My sills are for a C4S but I know they are available for the C2 as well, I don’t have the part number.

Do a search on "illuminated." If I remember correctly, Dave (a.k.a. coochas) had listed all of the part numners for all of the different variations.

did you have the door trim with the switch done in leather or had the door leather that covers the airbag the parts that these cars come with you have to be a accountant to track the part numbers correctly. I want full leather, especially the dash and PCM surround. I am curious to see if anyone has taken on such a project. I woudl guess it would X2 the $ of factory install, but most people say "they wouldn't do it" on this forum not whether it could or has been done. Any insight would be helpful.

Those mods are small but very effective imo. What are the best short shifters out there between Tequipment and B&M?

So I just got my car earlier this month and I have the short throw shifter. It is excellent, but I can say that it is harder than expected to get it into first gear when the car is cold. This problem goes away after the car warms up and probably won't occur in the summer, but it is annoying.

With that said, it shifts like a dream in R & 2 - 6 all of the time and is awesome in 1st as well once it warms up. It's the best shifter I've ever shifted (and my experience includes Lamborghini's and Ferrari's).

i think i'll def look into getting the sport shifter. It's very typical for short shifters to be stubborn when the car is cold, it's something I have yet to be able to explain

997 driver, I got mine from the factory and I lover every bit of it. On mine, all the gears are fine. I think you should get it. Dollar to dollar, this is the best option porsche offer.
