If you saw the pic in my post immediately above you'd see the suspect weld. And you'd realize that your PSE equipped car does not have those tips. (Click on the link I provided.)

geez. sheesh. I never really looked before and for that matter I am at work with the car at home. Who pee-peed in your coffee this morning? I withdraw the question and apologize for the waste of bandwidth.

LOL .. Don't be silly. You're confusing my above benign post with another. Cross-pollination not allowed.

Doesn't the PSE have real quad tips instead of the bolt-ons that the stock 997S's have?

Yes. Four tail pipes with four tips.

BTW, I got my recall notice on Monday. I will probably get it fixed when I get the car out in April. Or I might skip the fix and mount standard exhaust tips to go with my AWE exhaust. I will have to ask if I can get standard Carrera tips in place of my S tips under the recall.

Isn’t that banned in Europe now? Wouldn’t want any of that Genetically Modified hybrid stuff getting into the Teutonic auto gene pool.

It's all good. Who knows if PSE had a different weld problem? I'll just wait to see if I get a notice.

Have you guys heard about changing the tips will also change the tone of the exhaust sound? It will sound more deep and loud.

Received my notice in the mail yesterday. Based on the previous posts, it seems that the recall notices are really rolling in now.

according to fer2367, PCNA has stopped paying for the recall repair. Anyone else heard about this? Shouldn't this be paid by Porsche AG?

I just talked to my dealer again today, and he said Porsche is paying for the fix...

Now that's not nice....and respectfully, your wrong.

No, because my PSE system was one of the initial 30 defects before the recall was initiated.

My car is a July 05 build.

Are you saying some PSE equipped cars are being recalled?

And you are obviously beet-red wrong. The PSE exhaust tips have two different diameter sizes. The inner one being smaller than the outer one. If you have PSE you'd know that, and even if you didn't have it, you'd still know it, probably. The standard 997S tips have identical diameter sizes. ... So that means they are not the same part. So obviously PSE equipped cars did not come with the standard 997S exhaust tips.

<edited...>

In fact, I'm just trying to enligten the group to the fact that PSE mufflers and tips are NOT excluded from the defect. My particular case was one of the first known occurences of bad welds, and yes, my exhaust is PSE. Please don't go assuming that everybody else doesn't know what they are talking about.

Just so that we are clear, here is a pic of my car, and you can see the PSE system.

Further, the bad welds affected both of the mufflers/tips. They ended up replacing the left side, I drove off, and we then realized that it affected both sides. Haven't had a problem since.

But just so that we are clear, I was never arguing whether or not Carrera S and PSE systems had the same tips...I know they don't. I wanted you guys to know that PSE mufflers/tips are not excluded from bad welds.

I don't know if they are being recalled or not...I just know that PSE equipped cars are not excluded from the defect. Whether or not PCNA knows this or not and has included this in their recall, I do not know.
