Default Repair or replace tire?

I just discovered my rear tire has a leak and on other vehicles, I've had my local tire shop repair/patch it without any problems. The Porsche handbook recommends to replace the tire. What you suggest? The tire has only 6000 miles on it. Thanks.

oem's are always going to recommend replacing the tire for liability reasons.
plug it till the tire wears out
unless you are racing?

I'm at the Porsche Driving Experience in Birmingham and three guys from the Tire Rack are here and I happened to ask them the same question at dinner. The response was a repair is ok if done from the inside of the tire, not a plug from the outside and if the puncture is toward the outside of the tread.

I would also caution against repairs to any punctures on the sidewalls.
