I really like the dials and the front vent looks all business.

I'm so glad the GT3 came out looking nice,--the turbo still looks too busy. Nice rear end treatment on the GT3.

if the base gt3 is 99k - i would have to be insane not to get the base gt3.
It seems like once they're optioned up, you would be looking at a price in excess of $120,000. Although Brandywine Porsche had a no-option yellow GT3 leftover from 2004 when I bought my 997S. Part of me wonders why I didn't make an offer on it.

That's a tough call. With the addition of multi-setting PASM and traction control this new GT3 will be a less intimidating choice to use as commuter, who knows if early GT3 production will be backordered due to unanticipated demand like X51 pkg.

It seems unlikely that Porsche would be cranking out a half dozen or more GT3 per dealer for August like they did for Cayman launch, instead as the above post pointed out will options nudge $125K such as on launch car with PCCB and the full works?

I think it looks nice.
The new GT3 will also have as standard equipment:
glass sunroof
cooler which can hold 2 bottles of wine, cheese, and place settings for two
A larger A/C compresser
In addition to "Sport" mode, there will be an "Econo" mode
Improved beverage holder (can take a Super Big Gulp)
Driver & Passenger trash bins
Full thickness carpeting including roof and dash
Anybody have more details?

Take it from a humble SCCA racer, most serious race cars have a very welcomed shift light, which is easier to spot than watching a tach.

I got in on the thread a little late and on reply #5 Bullet thought that the shift light sucked.

As tempting as the GT3 is (sexy), I still think the 997S is the way to go, unless you plan to track the car often and you are a really good driver.

TC will help, but let's be real, these cars have much more power than most of us can handle safely all the timme, and PSM (as opposed to TC) has saved the butt of some of the best drivers I know on more than one occasion. I for one would probably still choose a 997S with X51 and sport chrono over the GT3. In sport mode, PSM is less intrusive, an it can always be turned off.

How many crashes have we seen/heard of in GT2's, GT3's, and CGT's?

The 997S with X51 is still one helluva car.

Note that it is a 3.6 not a 3.8!

I suspect that the factory is sticking to the old and reportedly more robust GT-3/996TT engine block instead of the M96 based engine found in 996/997.
