Sunroof -> Moonroof possible?

Sunroof -> Moonroof possible?
You know, I just got to thinking about past cars and other Porsches (e.g. Cayenne) about the possibility of a moonroof?
There was one old thread in the 996 forum where the idea was poo-pooed.
I would imagine that the structural integrity would be no different with glass since the hole is already cut! I also wouldn't think that tempered glass would add more than 10 pounds versus the metal.
Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Dave - I had one on my 2000 Jaguar S-Type. I always kept the built-in sliding roof shade closed. In fact, in the three years I had the S-Type, I think the sun/moon roof was open either 3 or 4 times.
I've had my 996 for almost a year, and the sunroof has been open one time, on the day I bought the car, to verify that it worked properly. It will probably never be opened again as long as I own the car. IMO, a sunroof or moonroof is a waste of good headroom and it adds unnecessary weight. I think they are totally worthless. If I wanted to get buffeted to death, I would have bought a cab and drive it without the windscreen.
Other than the few exceptions mentioned above, I like your idea!

I'd imagine the swap of the sunroof panel to a plexiglass unit could be easily done by a sunroof expert, but what would you bet Porsche would have warranty problems with such an install?
Additionally, the swap would be labor intensive, a euphemism for really expensive!
Not a change that would add any value to the car IMO.
I wish the USA could order "sunroof delete."

Hehehehehe, you guys are having the same sickness us 944 guys have. We have the (now out of production) saratoga top!
I'd love to see how this goes. I'm still wondering why Porsche hasn't offered a sunroof delete option. Crash the couple cars to get it certified for sale here and be done with it.
Again, the 944 owners have you beat. We have our [rare] sunroof delete cars.
I'm not really meaning what I say, just poking fun of course. The facts are the facts however, we have you beat!
The Kid,
