Default Door Panel Question

I asked this in the center console thread but doesn't belong there so. Anyways noticed small rectangular indentation on door panel near front of compartment lid. Seems to be uniform on both doors. Anyone else have this? Not sure if photo will show.

Well, if the other door has an identical indentation then it must belong there and is nothing out of the ordinary or anthing to be concerned with. But you're probably just curious as to what it is. A parts breakdown diagram will probably clue you in.

Yeah, I noticed it too on my driver's door. It's very subtle and looks like an imprint from a clamping device of some sort. Wasn't able to see the passenger side but I'm sure it's there like yours. Oh well.

Seems as if most 997 cars have this. If you look closely it is where the compartment door when opened hits the pane. Wonder if they somehow clamp the panel with the compartment door open.

Is this something anyone here would have fixed if it's not across the board on all cars?

Toomey-I just noticed this the other day on mine and was going to check in to it when I saw you and Ben's post. It does seem to be common tho, so I'm inclined to think it's not an issue.

I got that on mine too. It looks like there were something in the square shape of object push against the door panel during transit. Initially, I was going to take it back to the dealer to have them fix it. After I think about it, I believe I will be better off just leave it the way it is. If they change the panel, it may create other porblem instead. What I did, I kiind of push it around a bit, it seems like it get a little better.

Doesn't seem right to me. But I am with steven king of the opinion you have them change the panels and run the risk of ending up with rattles instead.

Well I must win the prize for the fussiest owner here but the door panels bother me. Anyway had a chance to look at the Fast Bananas panels yesterday and no dents there. The Banana does not have the full leather interior so I think the problem may be just on the full leather cars.

It's a design flaw resulting from styling efforts. The axis of the door panel and that of the compartment cover edge are not parallel. If they were indentation would be longer, yet less deep.

MMd:

You have seen this before? I have been around this forum for about 1 year and have never seen the topic come up. As I said very possible I am the only one here that it bothers.
