We've finished a good few 997 projects lately and now have a few carbon fiber bits ready to go... We've installed both the OEM carbon fiber center console and this one and they are both of similair quality, obviously this one is a bit cheaper. The carbon fiber mirrors are rumored to be an option for the 997GT3s but for now we have these (which also come with the bottom housings too).

I know we're all about performance usually but there's a little bling in it for ya!

No worries and thanks for the comment
Not for everyone obviously but the console is identical to what the factory does. As for the mirrors it's going to be a similair option on the GT3's later next year

On the mirrors it's particularily tricky to make the transition from carbon to the housing on the seam/edge work out right but they did a fab. job. The console looks identical to the factory one we put into a C4S last week.....
I can't help but laugh at the fascination with carbon fiber composite as decorative trim on cars. I've worked with it for years and it's really nothing but lightweight, high strength, high rigidity structural material with poor yield characteristics (will crack before it stretches). For aerospace applications and other weight saving, high strength applications (CGT) – yeah it's worth getting. But for purely decorative applications, it's really ludicrous, in my opinion.
I remember seeing my teenage nephew's red ricer with a CF hood when I went home to Ohio a couple years ago and asked him why he didn't bother to get it painted. He looked at me like I was nuts, daring to suggest that he paint over this expensive hood just so it can match the color of his car!
Really, there's nothing attractive about this manmade composite material at all aesthetically, when you work with it all the time. You might as well use plywood, another structural composite material, for decorative trim! ..

What's good about this forum is that you can post shots of what you're working on and then get honest input from people who are in the Porsche market as to whether what you're doing suits them or not. I think that's useful to a businessman. Obviously, not all of use feel compelled to dress up our cars with 'space age material' (aka plastic or carbon fiber). I find carbon fiber's utility to be its strength for the weight,--and not the decorative aspect of it. With the right car and combination of options it may be very well suited to CF. But for me it just isn't necessary or appealing. But, I'm guessing you'll have a lot of folks equally enamored with it. Clearly, Porsche is making a few bucks on CF interiors so why can't you!

I think these cf pieces always look substantially better in person than they do in photos, for some reason. For some reason the lighting, flash, etc, always have an adverse effect that makes the cf weave pattern more "tacky/gaudy" than in reality. 30% discount off the price of the factory console is a nice deal. Just my .02.

There has been many a time when a Rennlist sponsor has come here touting his wares only to be shredded by the many opinionated users here. They know we’re a tough crowd. And if they really have something we want, there is no better endorsement than that which comes from Rennlisters.
Oh, no need to apologize for the newbie misunderstanding. I ruffled many feathers I'm sure when I first came on to this forum, which I may not have adequately apologized for.
