N Rated Tires

N Rated Tires
Do you guys really think there's a real benefit or is it all marketing hype? Would you run a non-N rated tire on the street? On the track? Anyone ever hear of a "mishap" that was caused by the use of non-N tires?
I see lot's of P-Cars at the track with race tires that obviously aren't N-rated. If non-N rated tires are ok for race tires, why not for street tires?

N rated tires have been tested by Porsche and proven to conform to their standards for traction, response, ABS, and PSM performance. In addition they meet requirements for noise vibration and harshness.
This is not to say that only N rated tires are acceptable, merely that the N rated tires are PROVEN to be good.
I have been perfectly happy with all sorts of non N rated tires on my Porsches and I suspect most would agree.
N ratings apply to street tires only and there are no N rated R compound track tires that I know of.
Regards,
