( DJ ) 01/11 10:05AM PRESS RELEASE: Porsche Recalls Selected 911 Carrera S and Carrera 4S Models for Exhaust Pipe Tip Replacement
ATLANTA, Jan. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Porsche today announced a recall of certain
Porsche 911 Carrera S and 911 Carrera 4S sports cars for potentially defective
exhaust pipe tips. The recall involves those cars built between April 20,
2004, and October 21, 2005, 5,385 of which were sold in the United States and
Canada.

On these cars, it has been discovered that the exhaust pipe tips fitted to
the tailpipes might have inadequate welding seams between the fastening clamp
and the tailpipe itself. Should these welding seams fail, the tips can vibrate
lose from the tailpipe and fall off. To date, approximately 30 instances of
this occurrence have been reported worldwide.

FYI

Owners of these potentially affected 911s will be informed shortly to take
their cars to an authorized Porsche dealer where new exhaust tips with
improved welding seams will be installed at no charge.

Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA), based in Atlanta, Ga., and its
subsidiary, Porsche Cars Canada, Ltd., are the exclusive importers of Porsche
sports cars and Cayenne(R) sport utility vehicles for the United States and
Canada. A wholly owned, indirect subsidiary of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG,
PCNA employs approximately 300 people who provide Porsche vehicles, parts,
service, marketing and training for its 211 U.S. and Canadian dealers. They,
in turn, provide Porsche owners with best-in-class service.

What's funny is we'll now be able to tell which quad tips are old and which are new. The new ones will be out of alignment!

That's a repost. See earlier thread on the recall.

I saw your post first and found it to be very clear and concise -- title was descriptive and it didn't require me to leave rennlist to view the detail.

Thanks for the info Weissy.

Starting a competing thread on the same exact topic within the same hour is not being helpful to anyone. It would be more helpful to keep the discussion in the same thread so that we don't have to continuously jump from one thread to another that competes for our attention and thus we can allow the discussion to become fruitful and not let it get diffused and lose steam.

There are only two reasons why anyone would start a duplicate thread like that. Either they didn't see the original thread right in front of their eyes, in which case a helpful notice to them that it was a duplicate thread (as I did) might prompt a "sorry, didn't see it, my bad, d'oh" type response.

The other reason would be self-serving, and would likely prompt an angry response from the perpetrator.

I was assuming you missed it.

I am assuming you have way to much time on your hands. What the hell is a competing thread??? I truly don't care what you think you should try to get out more.

You want the "perpetrator" to say he's sorry? Is this a trial?

Obviously I was giving you more credit in the intelligence department than I should have – my bad. I'll explain in simple terms.

You came in here and saw a thread on the recall. Your ****ty mood prevented you from contributing to the thread and posting that excellent tidbit of information on the recall. So instead of being a team player, you acted like a spoiled little brat and took your ball and started your own ballgame right next to the game already in progress.

As for you....you need to lighten up. We don't need ****ty moods here to stink up the joint. ... Next time you're in one, I suggest you take it elsewhere.
