Default Head Waiter

My salesperson e-mailed me today as promised with an update on my car. The update was no news Porsche's system is down and won't be back up until Friday. This is the second or third time this has happened. As a waiter (the head waiter at this point) since the end of June I have to say Porsche's system as it relates to the ordering process leaves a little to be desired. So last update was the VIN on December 8, 2005 and no new news or On Vessel date since.

Hang in there,...and hey waiter, could I please have my check when you get a chance.
The 'system' link to Porsche was down a few times during my wait as well. I also went from IMPNV to ONVESL to here in the States in an impossibly short period of time (unless they piggy-backed it over here on a 747 like the space shuttle) - hence, their system sucks!

Aw, just hang in there. Desire is just a nasty habit of the Ego. Things will change abruptly. I was an anxious waiter for five months. That was a while ago. Now my 997s car is just sitting in the garage; haven't even looked at it in a few days! Lots of guys who were on the board waiting have since gotten their cars and haven't posted in a long time. Pretty soon we'll all be dead anyway (hopefully from natural causes).

I second Dave. Hang in there. I placed my order end of November 2004, and did not pick it up until May 24th 2005, but it was well worth it when I drove it home. Download the manual on Renntech.org and start reading it. This will make you aware of the insights to your new baby and help pass the time.

I am used to the wait and know once it's here the excitement will wear off quickly. I just think the system could use an update. Thanks for the support, hope to be posting the On Vessel change Friday.

The system could use an update? Why sugar coat it? The "system" sucks! Last word I got was on vessel as of 12/9--nada since then. I thought Toyota had been helping poor shhh uh. But, I like MMDs perspective--pretty soon we'll all be dead anyway. Either from natural causes or seeing the first stone chip

LOL! Oh, yeah, that first stone chip is a killer. SOB!! MF!!! Waiting IS hard but no kidding, just hang out on the boards to kill time, The thing I did was collect all that glossy colorfull brochure info on all the 997s competitors in 2005. Went out an test drove a Nissan Z and a Z4, get out there and "shop" around. Can't spend tooooo much time at your Pcar dealer sitting in their cars making vroom vroom noises by yourself though. Go check out the Corvette but don't even ask for a stinking test drive (you have to buy the stupid car first!). The day will come. What's funny was delivery day was soooooo damn tiring, sooooo much information and BS to do that it wasn;t really that much fun. Waking up in middle of night and "sleepwalking" to the garage and sitting in the new 997/S in your PJs: Like Christmas Day when you were a kid: Makes life worthwhile!!

And you can practice on those vroom, vroom sounds--either higher or lower to correspond with the RPMs, and you can get down on all fours and check it out from different angles too.

OK, talked with the saleperson today Porsche's system is back up and my car is IMPINV. Nowhere else to go from here except ON Vessel so I am getting somewhere but looks like I will keep my Head Waiter job for most of January.

As of last sat I was IMPINV as well. The dealer here checks once weekly. This system definitely sucks...but hopefully I'll see the car in Jan. I'm assuming there's no direct consumer access to this data, correct?

I'm in the same boat, oooh, bad choice of words? Same situation? Couldn't get any feedback yesterday, so latest info I got was that I was on the boat 12/9.

OTOH, watching the news last night, seeing what's going on in northern CA, Irag, etc, etc, plus Katrina makes me feel sorta whiney to say the least, that I'm so strung out over a car.

Hey Tooms...
Don't forget the Porsche system has those ghosts in the machine: I went from IMPINV, to ONVESL, to Ira Porsche in about a week. Then of course the certificate of origin took another week to arrive! I mean can't they stuff the thing in the glove box before it leaves Europe?
Are you working tonight? I know this time of year can be difficult on waiters, especially a head waiter.
