PSE on 997
Is it possible to hear from inside the car that you have the sport exhaust or is it just noticable from outside?
Can you hear it inside on the highway?
Does the PSE on a regular 997 compensate the sound exitement from the lack of the 997S Helhotz resonator that sound so nice at high rpm?
Anyone with PSE experience?

I don't get it, guys. When I'm beating the cr*p out of the car the next thing I expect to see is the cops whom somebody in the neighborhood, or car I passed with a cellphone, called. What use is a device which makes our "wreckless driving" more well-known?

You can hear it but when you're cruising on the Freeway there's no resonance... In fact all the Exhausts that we've put on so far fall into that category (EVO, Cargraphic, Fabspeed and AWE).
I have PSE on my 996 and will get it again on my 997
It is THE must have option on the car.
When configuring my car it is the first thing I put on. I love it on the 996 and it has brought many smiles to my face as the car sounds continues to develop over time.
(Part of the fun is getting new sounds to come from the car.)
i cant wait for the x51 sounds!
You must get pse!!

I love my PSE, but I was thinking with all these aftermarket exhaust companies they claim increases in both horse power and torque yet Porsche makes no such claims. Does anyone know if in fact it does increase HP and torque? I’m not surprised that Porsche wouldn’t say anything because the want to sell the X51 package, but I would love to know for sure. When I test drove my car I also drove one without PSE and I thought I felt a slight difference but that could have just been the difference in the two cars themselves. Anyone know for sure?
As I have mentioned before, read the Excellence article in this months issue (Feb - with the Club Coupe on the cover) and look at everything Porsche has done on that 3.8 liter engine to get the extra horses and torque (with a very broad torque band) with the addition of the X-51 package.
I am sure the PSE is part of the overall package and benifits the vehicle - but some of the claims these aftermarket guys are making are either overinflated or in a very narrow range of the power curve and good only for specific driving ranges (short track - long straightaways - drag racing - etc.)...

a very good friend is mit engineer who use to work in the car industry and raced and built his own cars in the past....he states that modern sports cars such as porsches, ferraris, lambos and vettes get very little is any increase in hp or torque with sport type exhausts vs oem....perhaps a few hp or ft lbs, if even that at most,,, :
most aftermarket exhaust companies (9ff, awe, etc.) claim 4-6rwhp from just the mufflers not much. pick the exhaust that sounds the best for your ears.
btw the pse is made by Eisenmann for porsche.
