Creaking from Left Front Dash
I'm getting creaking from the left (driver side) front dash when I ride over bumps...the dealer service person assumes it is the AC vent. Has anyone had similar noises & pinpointed the source??

It took me a while to pinpoint mine, but it was in the gauge cluster. I just pressed the cluster at the top center and also the rounded part of the dash. It went away. I am not sure this explains it well, so email me if you still need help.

I have a creak which sounds like it's coming from beneath the driver's side of the dash. Usually something like this would drive me nuts, but I'm having so much fun in the car, I'm kind of overlooking it.
It seems to be temperature sensitive - more apparent when the car is cold, less when warm - but I haven't pinpointed where it is so, I have not been able to quiet it. I'll try the gauge cluster, although my creak sounds like it's coming from beneath the dash - but I know car noises can be really tricky to pinpoint.

Hey! It was 37º this morning. Not bad by Minnesota standards (I grew up in Michigan), but pretty damn chilly for us thin-blooded Californians! Thank goodness for heated seats.

I've noticed creaks and rattles, are temperature sensitive, too--I just turn the music up and enjoy. (It seemed like I had a creak/rattle that could be fixed by adjusting the steering wheel--maybe that will help.)

I have creaks and rattles all over the place. Some seem worse in cold weather.
Nevertheless its ridiculous to have any in a car of this price and having to resort to putting velcro in strategic places...that's absurd.

I thought I was alone on this issues, I spoke to my sales guy about my creaking dash and he was a little surprised (though he had rattle problems with his own 996) but said it can be fixed without a problem, lets hope because I hate to hear any sort of rattle or squeaking, it drives me nutty.

To be honest, I've learned to just accept it and I wonder if some of it has to do with the harsh ride of the 19" wheels. I had an '03 C4S that had a lot of rattles, as well. Maybe I've just been acclamated by this point. (By the way, a friend's new M5 makes no noise whatsoever; will be interesting to see if it's like that in a few thousand miles.)

Every car I have ever owned (including two Porsches) has creaked more in the winter. I've been told by multiple people that it has to do with the plastic materials expanding and contracting with the differences in temperature. My experience says this is true I think because most if not all of the sounds I hear in the winter go away in the warmer parts of the year.
