Max RPM for 3.8 with X-51 option?
I know what the manual says is the max rpm for the 997S but what I want to know is does anyone know what the max rpm is for the 997S engine with the X-51 option?
I need to know as I have a print being created for me and we have the horsepower and RPM listed on the print.
Thanks!

I don't believe that the redline changed on the X51 option. You may have a revised peak torque curve point around 5000-6000rpm so going above that much is not gaining you much output, unless you're on your way up to the next higher gear and want to ensure that when the rpms drop for that gear they drop right into that peak torque area. I would go by the gear chart,--assuming one is in the back of the manual.

Or be very very patient, as I'll get to 2000 miles probably in a month or two more

Redlining an engine periodically will not only not hurt an engine but it will more than likely improve its performance. On the other hand redlining all the time will likely lead to premature engine wear.

You may not believe this, but my broken in 996 was AS FAST in a STRAIGHT LINE, accelerating from speeds of 50 to 70 mph against a 997S.
The 997s was NOT broken in. So I think engine break in, if done correctly can yeild good results.
We plan to do more tests this friday night as their is a driving event we are going to at button willow.
