Anyone have any experience with the product ? Dealer referred me to ArmorGlove installer (Joe Kane) in Cos Cob, Ct. Did a quick Google search and appears that all are happy with installation and product from his shop. Would love to hear if someone has used this installer or product.
It's just a particular brand name for what it is generally referred to as a clear bra. You can do a search here on the subject of clear bra for more information.
I've done considerable research on clear bra and have read most the treads. With the new car coming, I guess one continues to agonize over all the little details. I feel most the 3M/Scotchguard clear bra films are similiar and the installer is even more important. Possibly, I should have been more specific and asked if anyone has used Joe Kane and his crew in Cos Cob, Ct. It appears he does all the high end cars in Greenwich, Ct.
John, I looked at your other thread discussing how pleased you were with your recent installation. Did your installer leave everything intact on front bumper during installation? I've seen some pictures of others that showed installer disassembled misc. pieces in the front bumper prior to application. The ArmorGlove installer my dealer recommended leaves evrything intact. He wants $999 for my request of 1/3 hood, entire front bumper, behind each wheel, plus lights and mirrors.
On the front of the Cayenne, the front license plate was removed, the Porsche emblem had a cutout for it as did the pop-up headlamp washers.
On the Boxster, the Porsche emblem was removed, the bra installed, and the emblem placed back on. Also my bumper plugs were pulled and re-placed as well.
The install consisted of side view mirrors, front bumper and all grills, front 1/3 hood, and all lamps. Since I'm getting three cars done I'm paying 875.00 per car. Nothing was done behind the wheels.

That's way, way too much, especially if he's not using the top of the line film, 3M's Aerospace Film - the priciest yet the least "orange peel" of them all. He should at least be removing the hood emblem and wrapping the film around the hood edges.
Sounds like you're getting taken. Check out Sam's Premier Mobile schedule for availability. I hear they do excellent work.
That was my big fear, the "orange peel" but glad to say I have none! My installer (who own's his own company) was telling me "orange peel" can be caused by not only cheaper film but also poor installation.
Look for a warranty (how well a person will back up his product) and for how long they have been in bussiness. If your installer has been around for a few years then that proves something... What, I don't necessary know but..
When it comes to ppf installations, the installer plays a crucial role in how things come out. For example, there are two ways of applying the film on the 997s. First, the installer could use a precut kit in which kit design plays an important part in how it looks. Some kits are designed for ease of installation and have more seams. Others are created for the consumer, which has fewer seams. The last option would be to have the work done from bulk material. A good percentage of our customers request to have it done custom style due to the minimal seams. Let's take Xpel kit for comparison purposes (http://www.xpel.com/products/configu...submodel=1540). This kit is quite comprehensive compared to others on the market. However, for some of our customers, this is not enough.....notice the relief cut on the lower center portion of the bumper? When we apply it via custom, we would remove the headlamps, foglamps, signals to tuck the film inward to make it look as if there's really no film on the car. The center relief cut would not exist either......this would be as seamless as possible as some rennlist members here already have from our install.
One pt to keep in mind, custom work is not equal.....experience and master in advanced techniques is the most important when it comes to such an extreme type of application......many inexperienced installers will try such an install, but will likely butcher up a car.............
